The Search For Australia’s Best Up-and-coming Bands And Musicians (Expired)

St Kilda Festival organisers are on the lookout for Australia’s next big act. The nation’s best emerging talent has a chance to play on the New Music Stage, hailed as one of the highlights of the St Kilda Festival – Australia’s largest free music festival.

Ten bands will be chosen to play on the New Music Stage in 2018, with the crowd favourite to win $5,000 and a spot on the St Kilda Festival Main Stage in 2019.

The New Music Stage has hosted some of Australia’s hottest talent in the early stages of their careers including Client Liaison, The Cactus Channel, Stonefield and Husky.

City of Port Phillip Mayor Bernadene Voss said: “We are proud to offer an opportunity for upcoming Australian artists to be part of this iconic and long-running music festival.”

“Winner of the 2017 New Music Stage, That Gold Street Sound, will open the Main Stage at the 2018 St Kilda Festival which will be held Sunday 11 February, with an expected crowd of over 400,000,” Cr Voss said.

Applications for the New Music Stage are open to bands and musicians who reside in Australia. Applications close 5pm, Thursday 28 September 2017.
