Actors and Extras Required for Short Australian Film

A beautifully narrated short film set against the backdrop of outback Western Australia and told through a boy's innocence and questioning. 

Danny is caught in his parents violently disintegrating relationship, between his father's jealous outbursts and his mother's promiscuity. Amongst this turbulence Danny's trying to live a childhood, a boy who loves to run because it makes him feel loved. 

Danny's comes to witness the greatest of unexpected tragedies, and it leaves him with asking the biggest of questions and coming to the understanding that love isn’t what he thought.

Please note: this production contains strong themes of violence and drug use.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Rehearsal / production dates

Shooting in the first week of October, with rehearsals from late August.

Danny - an 800 metre running champion

A ten year old boy and a district champion for the 800 metres is caught in his parents disintegrating and abusive relationship.

Danny's Mum - changes after her relationship ends

An attractive woman that suffers domestic violence. Danny’s father not returning home for a weekend is the final motivation she needs to change the locks. Probably as a consequence of her pain, she starts bringing home men, her male ‘friends’. To her, Danny is a constant reminder of his father and she struggles with this, her natural love for her son and his likeness to his father.

Garry - ex-con and unlikely hero

An anti-hero. Garry’s been in jail, he’s rough, tattooed, street smart and a heroin addict, but he has a love for Danny that goes beyond all Garry’s flaws. Garry's life has given him a sense of wisdom seldom seen, and he has a message for Danny that’s at the heart of all boy's relationships with their mothers.

One of series of boyfriends in Danny's mothers life since his father's left.

Danny accidently sees this characters untanned arse as it rises and falls over Danny's mother's open legs.

This character is also the driver of the car that's horrifically smashed in which Danny's mother dies while Danny looks on.
