Budding musicians, dancers and performance artists in Western Sydney will have an opportunity to let their talent shine, with auditions for the annual Parravision talent competition now open.
Auditions will take place on Saturday 25 November 2017 at Parramatta Town Hall, when the best acts and groups will be selected to perform in the grand final at Parramatta’s Australia Day celebrations.
“The Parravision competition is entering its third year and has already uncovered a number of talented individuals including vocalists Liana Kahwaji and Sophia Bridget Dalisay, and dance act Double Digits, who have gone on to perform at other events and festivals,” City of Parramatta Council Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
“This competition is a wonderful way to support the City’s emerging and undiscovered artists and shine a spotlight on their talents.
“Parravision is a unique platform for emerging artists to get valuable experience performing in front of a live audience. I encourage people to give it a go and enjoy the opportunity to perform for your community.
Parramatta has a thriving music scene with some great venues and opportunities for live artists. Parravision is one of many initiatives which help support our live music culture and I expect this year there will be many opportunities for talented individuals to connect with the wider community.”
The Parravision talent competition will be judged by industry professionals with prizes up for grabs and three category titles:
Traditional and contemporary performance
Includes cultural performance groups, traditional or contemporary
Most outstanding entrant judged on vocal talent and delivery
Winner of Parravision
Finalists will be announced on Monday 11 December and will go on to perform at the Parravision grand final at City of Parramatta’s Australia Day event on 26 January 2018.
Entrants must be available to attend the auditions and the grand final event. Registrations close 11.59pm on Thursday 2 November 2017. For further details and to register visit www.cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au/parravision
