Our hero. Attractive in a 1930s movie star way. This role requires great comic timing and agility. English accent.
Requires a versatile actress to play three roles: Annabella, a mysterious, alluring German spy; Margaret, the young, shy Scottish wife of an older country farmer; and Pamela, our heroine, spunky, independent and very English. You will need to demonstrate your ability with accents at the audition.
CLOWN 1 and CLOWN 2, 20-50, male.
Between them these actors play the other 40 plus roles in the play, including spies and salesmen, vaudeville performers and policemen, landladies and charladies. We need versatile character actors with great comic timing. You must be extremely agile and able to handle multiple British accents. You will need to demonstrate your ability with accents at the audition.

Synopsis: Richard Hannay’s boring life is turned upside down when he meets beautiful spy, Annabella Schmidt. When Annabella is murdered, Richard finds himself being hunted by the mysterious organisation, The 39 Steps. Who are they? And what is their devilish secret? To find out, Hannay must travel to the Scottish Highlands, foil dastardly foreign agents, cross the moors (many times) and win over the girl.
