Violet (Expired)

  • Individual vocal auditions – Sunday 26th November (afternoon) and Tuesday 28th November (from 7.30pm)
  • Callbacks (upon invitation) – Wednesday 29th November (evening)


  • Monday 11th December 7.30pm to 10.30pm
  • Wednesday 13th December 7.30pm to 10.30pm

Then, from Sunday 21st January through to April:

  • Monday evenings, 7:30pm to 10:30pm
  • Wednesday evenings, 7:30pm to 10:30pm
  • Sunday afternoons, 2:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Rehearsal weekend (Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm) to be advised
  • Production week – Cast must be available for all evenings from 1st April until opening night on 6th April.
  • Performances – 6th April to 21st April 2018. (Ten shows total, April 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21)

You will receive a confirmation email with your vocal audition time.
Auditions will take place at The Fab Factory – 33 Industry Place, Bayswater – and will comprise of a short monologue and a vocal audition, lasting between 5 and 10 minutes in total.

Please familiarise yourself with one of the five monologues available here (or via email at There may also be cold reads on the day. Actresses auditioning for Young Violet are asked to use the Teen monologue provided.

Vocal Audition Requirements

  • Those auditioning for Violet, Monty or Flick – Please prepare two contrasting songs in the style of the show.
  • Those auditioning for Lula / Landlady – Please prepare one gospel or blues song with belt.
  • Those auditioning for all other roles – please prepare one song that showcases your voice.

Bring a non-returnable headshot and CV detailing previous theatrical experience and training.

The title character, a young North Carolina woman whose face was scarred in a childhood accident.

Not quite as guarded or prickly as her older self, but still tough and stubborn.

A simple, widowed man who lovingly raises his daughter alone doing the best he can with the little knowledge and resources he has to do so.
Gender: Male
Stage age: 30 to 50+

Old Lady / Hotel Hooker
A former beauty in her heyday. Staunch, tired and frustrated with life.
Gender: Female

Preacher / Other Featured Roles
An impassioned, theatrical man who preaches with all the bravado he can muster.

Lula Buffington / Almeta
This is an African-American role. Lula is a member of the volunteer choir that sings for the Preacher’s telecast.

Radio Singer
The singer at the dance hall in Memphis. Sings the song “Who Will Be The One”.
Gender: Male

Music Hall Singer
The singer at the dance hall in Memphis. Sings the song “Lonely Stranger”. The actor doubles as a Bus Passenger.

We are looking to cast between 2-5 versatile performers who, between them, will cover the following multiple featured roles: Virgil, Leyroy Evans, Bus Driver, Waiter, Bus Passengers (multiple), Mabel, Gospel Singers, Billy Dean, and Earl.
