Orange House by the Sea Artist Residency
Chamber Made is thrilled to announce our new residency program for mid-career female artists who are working across performance, sound and music.
Located on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. The Orange House by the Sea is the beautiful home of the late Margaret Cameron.
Margaret worked closely with Chamber Made during her life. She was a singular and extraordinary artist who made works for performance. It was her wish that after her death her home be used as an artist-in-residence program by Chamber Made.
- 2 weeks accommodation at The Orange House by the Sea
- $3,000 artist fee (an additional contribution towards child care is available if required)
- Access to a Melbourne based industry mentor
The residency is open to female-identifying*, mid-career artists (10+ years practice in their artform) who are making, researching or developing work located at the intersection performance, sound and music.
There is no public outcome associated with the residency. You will be required to submit a report of progress / findings with Chamber Made.
Applications are invited from individuals who will enter into an agreement with Chamber Made for the residency. Artists may take up the residency solo or with a small team of collaborators (up to three people in total). If you are working with collaborators it will be your responsibility to manage the division and allocation of the artist fee.
The residency is open to artists from anywhere in Australia but there is no additional travel stipend available so you will need to cover your own travel expenses.
The residency will take place between Monday 8 October and Friday 19 October 2018. Unfortunately there can be no flexibility with these dates.
Applications are to be submitted on the Chamber Made website. Applications will be assessed by a panel including:
Tamara Saulwick – Chamber Made Artistic Director
Genevieve Lacy – Recorder Virtuoso, Cross Artform Collaborator & Artistic Director
Rosemary Joy - Producer, Artist and Long Term Associate of Margaret Cameron’s
Applications close on Friday 15 June 2018.
The successful applicant will be decided and all applicants notified of the outcome by 31 July 2018.
There will be a second residency offered in early 2019. Dates for this will be released later this year.
