In the 1950s, it was predicted that the colour television would advance to a 3D ‘smell-o-vision’ that dispersed the aromas of the objects on the screen. MasterChef fans may be disappointed that ​prediction hasn’t come true – beyond a single cinema attempt in 1960-  but in many ways the futurists of the 50s were on the right track. Putting human elements back into technology is proving to be our creative future.
