How an exercise in forced intimacy led to a creative collaboration

Sophie Reid and George Poulakis met unconventionally, in their final year of a photography course, at a lecture given by artist Natascha Stellmach – who claims to have smoked a joint containing Kurt Cobain’s ashes.

‘Prior to this class, I was a photographer and not an artist,’ said George Poulakis, whose work features in the shadows within/ shadows abound exhibition with former classmate Reid.
