The Song Company, Australia’s premier vocal ensemble, has announced the appointment of David Sidebottom as General Manager.
Sidebottom joins The Song Company with substantial business experience in the arts industry. He has previously held the position of General Manager for Fine Music 102.5 and Synergy & Taikoz Ltd. He has been a board member of several industry organisations including past treasurer of the New Music Network and Aurora Festival of Living Music. The combination of Sidebottom’s business acumen and music experience will serve him well in his new role.
Penny Le Couteur, Chairman of the Board for The Song Company, said, ‘David is a well-known and respected figure in the arts scene with a substantial management background. I’m delighted that he is joining the team which includes Artistic Director, Antony Pitts, in his first year. In their hands I am very confident that The Song Company is heading for even greater things.’
The Song Company is Australia’s leading vocal ensemble, whose repertoire covers vocal music from the 10th century to contemporary works, and is unique in its stylistic diversity.
Sidebottom said of his appointment, ‘I have the greatest respect for The Song Company and have enjoyed their performances for a number of years. I am particularly excited to be joining them at a time to support the ambitious plans of Artistic Director Antony Pitts.’
He has already commenced in the role.
