The Wiggles made it look easy, but what are the realities of making a living from children’s entertainment?

In the 2011-2012 financial year, the Wiggles earned an impressive $17.167 million – down from the cool $45 million they generated in 2009, but still an impressive sum of money, especially for a group of middle-aged men clad in brightly coloured skivvies. Certainly ‘the world’s biggest preschool band’ made children’s entertainment an attractive proposition. But although the Wiggles made it look easy, tailoring performances for the family entertainment market is hard work – and it’s certainly not a guarantee of financial success.
