How circus can heal the rural-urban divide

A new initiative aims to bridge the schism between traditional circus families and contemporary practitioners.

A new online forum hopes to strengthen Australia’s diverse circus sector by providing a shared space for practitioners from all corners of the country, including training institutions, contemporary circus companies, sideshow performers, and family-owned practitioners of the classical circus tradition.

Richard Watts is ArtsHub's National Performing Arts Editor; he also presents the weekly program SmartArts on Three Triple R FM, and serves as the Chair of La Mama Theatre's volunteer Committee of Management.
