Majors benefit from Brandis top-up

While controversy rages over the Budget diversion of funding from the Australia Council, the Ministry has provided extra funding for two major performing arts companies.

Bell Shakespeare receives $1.28 million to continue its education program and the Australian Ballet gets $150,000 support the Ballet’s China tour.

The funding comes from existing Ministry appropriations not from the new National Programme for Excellence announced in the Budget last week.
