Cirque Adrenaline is an entertaining performance featuring talented stunt performers; whether it is the aerial lyra, the extreme fire dance, or the aptly named ‘Wheel of Death’, the show demonstrates its variety through a series of rapid-action acts that occur in quick succession.

Notable performances include Darren Partridge as ‘Dizzy the Clown’, who embodies the best of modern clown performances, and is an excellent source of inspiration for emerging artists. From the very opening of the show, Partridge entertains the audience with his giddy, happy-go-lucky attitude, taking advantage of both his quirky nature, and the reactions of the audience members he draws upon. Reshaping the traditional role of the ring-master, Partridge keeps the audience engaged, and laughing throughout.

The ‘Wheel of Death’ is the most intense act of the performance, as Angelo Rodriguez and Carlos Mayorga leap, roll, and dive their way around a rotating metal contraption high above the stage – even at times blindfolded! Their agility, and balance are incredible and truly remarkable.

One drawback is the limited space afforded to them in the Concert Hall. Most notably in the high bar and ‘Sphere of Fear’ acts, where it is evident that this smaller performance space hampers delivery. The ‘Sphere of Fear’ also became somewhat awkward to watch for audience members located towards the front of the stage, due to its location atop the performance structure.

Altogether, Cirque Adrenaline is a well performed show, but venue restrictions prove some feats awkward for audience and performer alike. Still, it is very balanced, fast-paced, and unique performance that will leave an impression on even the most avid adrenaline junkie.
