ButohOUT! The body – our closest nature
The ButohOUT! Festival is a collection of unique artistic and cultural activities to activate local communities in Victoria. It initiates artistic and unique cultural exchange through the powerful performing arts medium, Butoh, a Japanese theatre and dance form, which artists bring into the context of Australia landscape, culture and history. The public workshops, performances and public forum will be held between February and April 2018.
A diverse and distinctive series of short works will be presented by Yumi Umiumare, Tony Yap, Weave Movement Theatre, Breathing Forest Dance Theatre and international guest artist, Agung Gunawan (Indonesia), alongside solo and group works by local artists, mentored by Yumi and Tony during the ‘ButohOUT!’ Laboratory Workshop.

“In Butoh, we are trying to give form to that which is formless, trying to put into words that which cannot be put into words"
