The ever-popular Darebin Music Feast is back for 2017, taking over venues right across the municipality from 12 – 22 October. Running for over 20 years, the 11-day festival is a celebration of Darebin’s diverse music culture.
This year’s event aims to amplify lesser-heard voices, and will offer audiences a diverse range of music-based experiences. The broadened focus will see Indigenous, queer and female voices come to the fore, and introduce electronic music and sound art events alongside old Festival favourites such as the Darebin Music Feast Songwriters’ Award.
Highlights include: The Red Dusty Road – celebrating 40 years on the road with Aboriginal band, Coloured Stone; Mana – a live music event highlighting queerness and people of colour; and The Megaphone Project – an interactive sound installation for all ages.
Take a journey through Darebin’s prestigious live music venues or experience unique pop-up shows in unexpected spaces. With more than 100 events in the program, there’s something for everyone!
