Uģis Prauliņš’ spectacular Mass for Riga Cathedral forms the backbone of this extraordinary program of music from Estonia, Italy, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. Movements from the Mass are interspersed with exquisite motets: Handl’s Ecce quomodo; Palestrina’s ethereal vision Sicut Cervus; Tarrodi’s setting of Yeats’ ‘The Falling of the Leaves’ and Victoria’s O vos omnes. The program tapestry culminates in Ešenvalds’ joyous setting of Rabindranath Tagore’s words.
