The buzz is still in the air from Joseph and James’ hugely successful first Casula concert. The astounding music and hilarious banter had the audience spellbound one moment and laughing out loud the next. So the Tawadros brothers are back due to popular demand – this time in trio format.
Joining Joseph for this concert are Matt McMahon, one of Australia’s finest jazz pianists and his brilliant brother James Tawadros on Egyptian percussion. Expect a thrilling mix of Middle Eastern, jazz and traditional sounds in all-original pieces, including music from the new album Live At Abbey Road - which has received rave reviews.
Joseph is a triple ARIA award winning master of the oud – which is a Middle Eastern lute. He was born in in Cairo in 1983, came to Sydney at 3 years old and is now based in London.
This year the brothers performed with the BBC Orchestra in Dubai, premiered Joseph’s Concerto for Oud and Orchestra with Melbourne Symphony, recorded an astounding album at the legendary Abbey Road studios in London.
Joseph has also been busy in the studio, having played on the Ali’s Wedding soundtrack. He is back in Australia to perform in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Darwin before he performs in special concerts in East Timor and China. He will be visiting Ukraine and Poland later in the year.
Complementary pre-performance refreshments will be provided at 6.30pm. Tickets start from $15.
