Friday 20 April - "Opera Safari"  Don Pasquale  (Donizetti)

Comic opera at its best! A vivacious romp through mistaken identity in one of Donizetti’s most brilliant and popular operas, Don Pasquale. Young and old will delight in this farcical tale of Don Pasquale’s attempts to secure a wife and disinherit his nephew, Ernesto. Mischievous Dr Maletesta is on hand to ensure that feisty Norina marries the man of her dreams. Jam-packed with melodic and memorable tunes, it features many of the opera world’s most cherished arias and ensembles and has something for everyone. Performed in English, this fully costumed performance is complete in 90 minutes.

Friday 6 July - "Masquerade Ball"  Die Fledermaus  (Strauss)

Join Opera Bites in this hilarious re-telling of Johann Strauss’ wonderful operetta Die Fledermaus – and remember to wear your finest masquerade costume since you might be invited to participate! Gabriel Eisenstein has to go to gaol tonight. First though, there is Prince Orlofsky’s fabulous masked ball which he simply must attend. Among the (disguised) guests are his gaoler, Frank, his maid, Adele, and even his wife, Rosalinda. When he finally gets to gaol, he finds that someone else has been arrested in his place – someone who was at his house and in his dressing gown the previous evening!

Friday 14 September - "Sultry Spanish Nights" The Barber of Seville  (Rossini)

Enjoy a night of hilarity with Opera Bites and Rossini's The Barber of Seville. Count Almaviva has fallen in love with Rosina – he has come to Seville in disguise as the student Lindoro to win her hand and to see if she will love him for who he is and not his rank. First, however, he must get her away from the clutches of her protector Dr Bartolo who wants to marry her himself. Almaviva enlists the help of Figaro, the barber and general factotum, who is always ready (for a price) to come up with a brilliant idea. Rosina is indeed in love with Lindoro (although she has no idea who he really is) but Dr Bartolo’s accomplices, Berta and Don Basilio try their best to thwart the Count’s plans. Figaro makes the Count disguise himself as a soldier as a way of getting into Bartolo’s house but will Rosina want ‘Lindoro’ when she finds out about his deception...?

Friday 16 November - "Opera Banquet"  Celebrated Opera Highlights Gala

A unique experience to cherish with arias and ensembles from the world’s most adored operas. Expect to be seduced by favourites you’ll know and love from Turandot, Rigoletto, La Boheme, Don Giovanni, Lakmé, Carmen and more. With witty narration to give a sense of context and presented in true Opera Bites style, bask in this feast for the senses with an Opera Gala like no other.  Book a table for your clients, colleagues or friends for a superb end of year celebration event to remember!
