Join two of Perth’s most talented musicians for an enchanted evening at St George’s Cathedral. Pianist Mark Coughlan and Baritone Andrew Foote will perform a delightful repertoire in “Lieder to Cabaret” on Friday 18 May.
Popular songs such as ‘Autumn Leaves’ and ‘All the Things You Are’ can’t fail to please, while Andrew Foote’s entrance after the interval plays to the solemnity of the Cathedral’s towering architecture. Schumann’s romantic songs are in turn powerful, delicate and seductive, while Vaughan Williams’ more extravert ‘Songs of Travel’ are simply wonderful poetry.
The concert will lead up to some playful cabaret tunes and feature the uplifting piano piece, ‘Invitation to the Dance’ to show off the Cathedral’s brand new, hand-crafted Fazioli piano, to be unveiled for the first time at this event.
The piano was gifted to the Cathedral by Zenith Music and two private donors. Mark travelled to Venice to select the instrument, and describes it as having a mellow singing quality and luxuriant sound, perfect for the venue!
Mark and Andrew have been performing together for many years, their skill and charm guaranteed to delight the audience.
Don’t miss this wonderful old-fashioned evening soiree with two charismatic musicians!
