Gabriel Fauré's gentle, consoling Requiem captured the public's imagination from its first performance in 1888.
Of the work, Fauré wrote “Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.”
The Requiem touches the heart with its melodic beauty and mellow, autumnal orchestration.
This all-French programme will also feature Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine, Francis Poulenc’s sparkling Mass in G and a rare performance of Daniel-Lesur’s Le Cantique des Cantiques.
We are delighted to present this work with soloists bass-baritone Nicholas Dinopoulos and soprano Erika Tandiono.
Don’t miss the chance to hear these treasures of the French choral repertoire.
