Video: Paul W Rankin
Music: Tamil Rogeon
Performed live by Australian Youth Orchestra Momentum Ensemble
Filmmaker and video artist Paul W Rankin and composer Tamil Rogeon create a new work inspired by Leonard French’s exquisite stained glass artworks The Four Seasons at La Trobe University Sculpture Park.
Like French’s work, Paul and Tamil are working with four distinct aesthetics, not sequentially but convergently, in an aim to create an audio-visual piece that feels like a whole union and indivisible. It echoes the way that the closer you look at the light through French’s glass, the more the light seems like a living thing.
‘Variations on Leonard French’ will be screened at soundvision accompanied by a live performance from the Australian Youth Orchestra Momentum Ensemble.
Soundvision will also feature live musical performances from celebrated artists Remi, The Bombay Royale, Yeo, GL, The RAah Project and Emma Donovan and The Putbacks.
