Fringe World Festival 2018 - Showman's Fair

INTRODUCING THE SHOWMAN’S FAIR: A MINI-DUTCH FESTIVAL

A star attraction of FRINGE WORLD Festival 2018 is The Showman's Fair, a wild Dutch mini-festival at FRINGE Central in The Perth Cultural Centre.

Taking over the Urban Orchard, The Showman's Fair is a complete sensory overload, featuring the fabulous Showman's Dinner, live music, performances and special surprises nightly from 27 January through 25 February.

FRINGE WORLD Festival Director Amber Hasler said the event was going to be something Perth audiences would talk about for years to come.

“Fringe is all about the unexpected and The Showman’s Fair will be where some of the most surprising and delightful moments of this FRINGE WORLD Festival happen,” Ms Hasler said.

“Perth has never seen anything like it and we think audiences are really ready for something completely different like this.”

The Showman's Fair has been entertaining The Netherlands since 2014, having toured to Amersfoort, Weesp, Utrecht and Zwolle. It is presented by Firma Tractor and Terts Brinkhoff, founder of the renowned travelling festival, De Parade.

The Showman’s Fair spokesman Laszlo Brinkhoff said that visiting the Fair is like stepping back in time to the golden era of travelling fairs.

"Our family has been touring festivals in The Netherlands since the 60's and The Showman's Fair is all of the best things that we've toured plus some new and exciting things," Mr Brinkhoff said.

“We have brought over with us a team of 20 Dutch staff and artists to perform at the Fair, mixed in with an amazing selection of Australian shows."

The centrepiece of The Showman's Fair is The Showman's Dinner, a long table dining experience that gets you up close and personal with the performers and your fellow Fringe goers. You’ll be talking about it for years to come. Don't bother booking - just rock up with a $20 note, find a seat and enjoy the amazing food and unique show performance that's part of the dining experience.

The mini-shows at The Showman’s Fair are a bargain and offer some of the most surprising entertainment you’ll see in the Fringe. Look out for Silent Disco in the authentic vintage lion’s cage, go surfing and a tent where you go to be touched by God!

The Showman's Fair has its very own currency which will be used to see most of the mini-shows. Each coin is $5 and with a bunch of them you and your date can see a huge variety of entertainment within the Fair.

Like most of the Fringe hubs it’s free to enter The Showman's Fair, which will be open every night of the Festival. Drop in and soak up the Fringe vibes, catch up with mates for a drink, meal and check out a show.
