Dancehouse is currently accepting screendance works for Melbourne’s inaugural Dance (Lens) Festival 29 July–29 August 2021.
Dance (Lens) is Dancehouse’s program of presentations, screenings and talks about all things screendance and is offered both digitally On Demand and with screenings and talks over the opening weekend at Dancehouse, Melbourne.
In 2021, Dance (Lens) is curated by Siobhan Murphy, Melissa Ramos and Andre Shannon. These curators have each conceived a program of screendance works, pre-recorded talks and public programs. The curators will also select a further 14 Australian screendance works from an open call out for inclusion in the Dance (Lens) Festival.
The Dance (Lens) Festival aims to encourage filmmakers at all stages of their careers; from passionate amateurs to industry veterans, showcasing a broad understanding of screendance. Works may include expanded choreographic possibilities, temporalities, contexts, and/or traditions; both human and non-human bodies.
Works selected for Dance (Lens) from the Australia-wide call out will have been completed within the last 5 years (July 2016) and will be paid a webcast and screening fee of $200.
A specific TikTok and social media screen program for Dance (Lens) will be announced in July.
Submissions open on Tuesday June 1 2020 and close on Monday June 21 at 11:59pm (AEST).
