APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

PENRITH YOUTH ORCHESTRA 2020

In partnership with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Penrith Symphony Orchestra

Penrith Youth Orchestra (PYO) has evolved into a high-quality symphony orchestra for talented school-age musicians since it was established in 2015. A partnership between the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO), Penrith Conservatorium at The Joan and Penrith Symphony Orchestra (PSO), PYO rehearses and performs four times per year under the guidance of Artistic Director Dr Paul Terracini.

In Term 1; February 2020, Penrith Con will present PYO Academy – a weekend intensive program delivered in partnership with the ACO, led by renowned violinist Aiko Goto. PYO Academy will see these young musicians participating in a weekend of intensive rehearsals, tutoring and workshops with other professional musicians from the ACO. The PYO Academy weekend will culminate in a public concert with ACO members on Sunday 23 February at 3pm.

This is an invaluable opportunity for PYO participants to gain in-depth experience, playing alongside the best of the best.

PYO Academy is an essential experience for any talented young musician who wants to be challenged and inspired. Participants build on technical skills, accuracy, ensemble playing and presentation; and will give a live public performance on the mainstage as part of the Academy Orchestra.

What's Involved

  • Weekend-long orchestral and sectional rehearsal
  •  Full orchestra and chamber ensemble workshops
