The Platform LAB supports emerging artists to develop their practice, test ideas and engage in contemporary dialogues. This new program champions the creative development process; supporting and encouraging artists to experiment within their practice, undertake research and initiate collaborations that will strengthen the future of their arts careers.
Open to artists across Victoria, Platform LAB offers time, space, mentorship and financial investment of $5000 each for up to four selected participants (individuals or collectives) to undertake new works, research, experiments and collaborations.
Emerging artists across all disciplines (performance makers, visual artists, sound/lighting designers, writers, multi-artform artists etc.) can apply for Platform LAB. We consider emerging artists to be within their first five years of professional practice and generally aged 18 - 26.
Platform LAB will provide:
6 months of in-kind studio and rehearsal space at Platform Arts
Participation in two LAB Intensives, facilitated by Platform Arts staff and leading local and international artists
Free participation in our Platform Professional Development program
On-going mentorship and support from Platform programming and producing staff
Technical and marketing/media support from Platform staff
Industry previews of your work (online and in person)
