About the Course

Take the first step toward realising your dream of being on the stage or screen!

Acting 1 is an intensive eight-week introduction to the Core Principles of performing.

In a playful, fun and supportive environment you will build on your own knowledge and experience and learn essential acting skills to improve your creativity, expression and communication.

You will be guided through a wide range of performance exercises and techniques including impulse work, solo and group improvisation and ensemble practice. Explore contemporary approaches to embodying text that will enhance your vocal range and lead to clear and confident communication and develop a greater awareness of your body and space to strengthen the power of your individual presence.

Acting 1 is specifically designed to assist you to compile your own tool kit of performance skills and is a unique opportunity to be exposed to the contemporary performing practices taught at the VCA.

Facilitated and delivered by distinguished teaching artist Sarah Cathcart (VCA Alumna,) Sarah has been performing, devising, directing and teaching theatre for over three decades and is a qualified Alexander Technique teacher.

This course is suitable for 18+ year olds
