Communications Coordinator

The Human Rights Arts & Film Festival (HRAFF) is looking for a passionate, professional, hard-working and friendly individual to join HRAFF as Communications Coordinator in the lead up to the 2020 Festival. This position plays a vital role in building the HRAFF community and sharing our message with the world.

HRAFF is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to cultivate a vibrant human rights culture and community using film, art and conversation. The Festival aims to connect people, places and stories together, to educate, inspire and empower positive social change.

 

HRAFF presents a kaleidoscope of film, visual art, music and forums that offer a diverse array of creative responses to contemporary human rights issues. More information can be found here: http://hraff.org.au/

 

WORKING HOURS

 

The expected time commitment for the role is 6-8 hours per week. You will have the opportunity to carry out your work from HRAFF HQ in Northcote. We are happy to implement a flexible work hours arrangement if needed. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the CEO and Marketing Team to execute the digital marketing and social media strategy for HRAFF 2020 (including social posts, e-newsletters and cross promotions with other organisations).

  • Carry out the execution of communication requirements in a timely, thorough and friendly manner.

  • Work with partner organisations to secure cross-promotional coverage for HRAFF 2020.



REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.

  • Approachable and warm, demonstrated ability to maintain positive professional relationships and commitment to teamwork.

  • Self-starter, accountable, motivated and able to think outside-of-the-box, ability to maintain precise and streamlined workflow.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in digital marketing and social media strategy and delivery.

  • Good understanding of leaders, artists, activists, advocates and organisations that work in the human rights and or arts and cultural landscape.

  • A flexible approach, a sense of humor and ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Commitment to HRAFF’s objectives, mission, vision and values. 

  • An interest in human rights, film and arts.



PRACTICALITIES

 

This is a volunteer role, however a highly rewarding one, with real responsibilities. The successful applicant will gain invaluable practical experience, establish industry connections, and play a pivotal role in bringing HRAFF 2020 to life.
