Born Susan Ventura but better known by the stage name she took after an acid trip at age 16,  Penny Arcade is among the founders of performance art.

Her work is part personal confessional, part social and political commentary, part humour and part art. ​Her best known work Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore!, which, like much of her work, ​a commentary on sexuality and censorship, combines s erotic dancing, improvisation, comedy, audience participation, and monologue and ​has had more than 1,500 performances in over 22 cities internationally.
