Composer Andrée Greenwell.

Sydney-based composer Andrée Greenwell has teamed up with leading Australian female writers, vocalists, and musicians to create Listen to me, a song collection that responds to the current debate on gendered violence in Australia.

‘I invited a number of Australian writers, included a range of quotes by women concerning this issue, and also private stories of Australian women. Gendered violence is a communal problem, so I wanted to offer something that was prism-like, not definitive, but of many elements that are equally engaging and valid. I also wanted to make use of the unique features of music – which allows time and space for both personal and communal reflection, outside of reportage,’ Greenwell told ArtsHub.
