Realities of regional life explored in young people’s monologues

A new collection of scripts written by young regional Australians shares their fresh perspectives with the wider theatre community.

Opportunities for young people in regional Australia who are interested in theatre can be limited – especially when it comes to finding suitable scripts which speak directly to their lived experience.

A new collection of monologues published by Currency Press helps balance the scales.

Developed through a nine-day writers’ residency in 2019 (coordinated by Country Arts SA and Carclew in conjunction with Australian Theatre for Young People) This Was Urgent Yesterday features 14 scripts by regional writers aged 18 to 25.
