Private sector support for the arts hits record $95.7 million

The number of individual donors has increased, as have the cash value of donations, while corporate sponsorship lags behind.

Financial support from the private sector has hit record highs, according to figures released this week by the Australian Major Performing Arts Group (AMPAG).

In total, private sector revenue for the Major Performing Arts (MPA) companies – including orchestras, ballet companies and state theatre companies – grew by 15.2% in 2016, increasing by $12.6 million to a total of $95.7 million.
