The Hildegard Project, a new initiative by Musica Viva, was launched today, Sunday 12 April, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, immediately following the final concert of the Musica Viva Festival.

Named after the 12th century German composer, abbess and polymath, Hildegard von Bingen, The Hildegard Project is a commissioning project designed to encourage more female composers in Australia. Presently, only a quarter of living composers represented by the Australian Music Centre are women.
