Musicians from around the globe will have the opportunity to play along with Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) online via via Google+ as they perform Holst’s The Planets for the inaugural Concert for the Planet on Saturday 28 March.

The concert, presented by the Global Orchestra Foundation, will be performed as part of Earth Hour, in which households and businesses are encouraged to switch off non-essential lighting for an hour to demonstrate their commitment to the environment. It also serves to help grow the SSO’s audience online, and follows in the footsteps of similar events such as 2014’s World Ballet Day, which allowed international audiences to watch The Australian Ballet practice and rehearse.
