Vale Sigmund Jorgensen

Jörgensen, who oversaw the artists’ colony Montsalvat from 1969 until 2014, has died aged 79.

Melbourne is mourning the death of Sigmund Jörgensen OAM, whose father Justus Jörgensen established the artists’ colony Montsalvat in Eltham in 1934.

Sigmund died on Sunday 21 July aged 79. He is remembered as a man of passion, intelligence and creativity; a mentor and author whose love of the arts was unwavering.
