MTC Associate Artistic Director Sam Strong is excited about what Melbourne Theatre Company has in store for 2015. ‘A good subscription season is like a great album, it takes an audience on a journey,’ he said.

As the festive season rapidly approaches, why not consider sharing your love of theatre? ‘MTC’s 2015 season includes a range of experiences to suit every theatrical taste’, Strong explained.  ‘With writing from around the world, great local stories, meaty classics, something more comedic, the intense and serious, the boutique and intimate, and the spectacular, there is something for even the most casual theatregoer.’

MTC will present the stunning new stage adaption of North by Northwest from director Simon Phillips and writer Carolyn Burns, then at the other end of the spectrum you have one of the most hilarious works to come off Broadway in recent years, Buyer and Cellar with the fabulous Ash Flanders, about a person’s obsession with Barbra Streisand. ‘There are revivals of Betrayal, The Wier, and Death and the Maiden, some of the best plays to come out of the last few decades,’ revealed Strong.

Strong said that ‘the season brings Australian audiences some of the hottest writing from overseas, including Jumpy by April De Angelis, and Birdland by Simon Stephens. Birdland is a white-hot interrogation of celebrity and rock ‘n roll. One of the coolest plays of the past few years, it’s great that Australian audiences get to experience this production fresh for a triumphant season of its original production at the Royal Court, London.’

MTC’s 2015 Season also features two new music theatre collaborations. If your loved one enjoys a side of music with their theatre experience, then they’re certain to enjoy Steve Vizard and Paul Grabowsky’s glorious and moving comedy, The Last Man Standing, or the boutique musical gem, What Rhymes with Cars and Girls from Aidan Fennessy and Tim Rogers.

So, why not share your love of great theatre this festive season and treat your loved one with a theatrical experience they’ll never forget.
