Tafelmusik’s House of Dreams will recreate the magic of 17th and 18th century parlours when leading musicians like Bach, Vivaldi and Handel played to an enthralled audience in rooms decorated with stunning works from Vermeer, Canaletto and Watteau. An experience like none other, House of Dreams is the ultimate gift of live music to lovers of art, architecture, art history and exquisite music.

Musica Viva will present the highly talented Canadian musicians in their second tour of Australia in 2015, after the success of The Galileo Project in 2012.

Artistic Director of Musica Viva, Carl Vine AO, said, ‘In 2015 we will get to enjoy House of Dreams, a kaleidoscopic journey through the art, architecture and music of Europe brought to life as musicians and narrator inhabit the stage and encircle the artworks themselves in a single musical flow.’

House of Dreams is a cross art form collaboration, which tells a musical history with images, spoken word and live music of the highest standard conceived, programmed and scripted by Alison Mackay (also creator of The Galileo Project).

Of the concert experience, Mackay said, ‘When the audience come into the hall, they’ll see a giant ornate baroque frame on the stage, which is a replica of a beautiful frame originally in a palazzo in Venice in the 18th century.

‘Embedded in that frame is a high quality projection screen and there are a number of images projected onto that screen which form the backdrop for the orchestra.

‘The concert will be like being a guest in one of those rooms in 1725 and having the experience of listening to Handel with some of his musicians and seeing an incredible Rembrandt or a painting by Watteau,’ added Mackay.

House of Dreams brings the Baroque era to life and would make a unique gift this Christmas.

Performing in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in 2015, concert tickets and gift vouchers are available here
