After decades of deconstructing and subverting the formal beginnings of music and art, computer engineers and app developers are now drawing on those early creations. They aim to grow artistic and musical AI by reducing artworks to rhythm, melody, colour and brushstroke in an effort to make training an algorithm easier.
Swing by to catch moderator Tim Devine of digital agency AKQA; artist Stelarc; AI researcher Dr Lisa Dethridge; head of research at Science Gallery Melbourne Dr Niels Wouters, and musician and digital producer Becky Freeman, aka Sui Zhen. We encourage all to listen and offer thoughts as these experts discuss what is lost and gained via reductionism, explore modern musical and artistic approaches and reflect on contemporary uses of AI in artistic practice.
