Local performers from all walks of life will be brought together in a night that celebrates Wollongong’s drag past, present and future.
The far out and fabulous have been curated by local drag queen Roxee Horror (Adam Larkham) to showcase Illawarra’s best drag talent. Lip-sync songstresses, live singing legends, iconic dancers, comedy queens and those who defy every label will bend gender as you know it.
Renowned for her outrageous performances, Roxee recently made waves with her message of inclusivity and positivity with Drag Storytime at Wollongong City Library. “Drag is very powerful” says Roxee, “on the one hand it can be entertainment but on the other hand, it can change the way people see the world and maybe even themselves”.
One of the feature performers of the show is Jackaranda: Illawarra’s rising drag star. At just 10 years old, Jackaranda fell in love with the stage and was quickly turning up to witness other local performers. With the support of family and friends, Jackaranda takes to the stage and represents the future of drag.
Also appearing is Dee Dee La’Mar – who has been a local drag legend since 1980. A fixture of the community, Dee Dee has seen the Illawarra’s attitudes change and progress over the years and Adam credits Dee Dee’s legacy in the Illawarra for paving the way for local performers today.
The remaining line-up includes: Cherry Ripe, Mama Medussa, Déjà Vu, Rosè, Euthan Asian, Pablo, the Bearded Queen, Mausoleum.
